A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHIEF

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Oakland Fire Department's web site.
I hope you enjoy looking at our web site and finding out more about the Oakland Fire Department and many fire safety tips for you and your family. We have included links for you to receive more knowledge about the fire service and fire safety.

There are also links set up just for the kids... and the family too.

The fire service of today is one of the most diverse and challenging professions known. It is this diversity that inspires most men and women to enter the fire service as a volunteer or career firefighter. Today's firefighter is trained to extinguish fires, provide emergency medical care, respond to hazardous materials accidents and natural disasters. Being a volunteer firefighter is not for everyone. You need more than just a desire to help others. You also need courage and dedication, assertiveness and willingness to learn new skills and face new challenges.

I would like to personally invite you to visit our fire station and see our equipment and get acquainted with your local firefighters.

If you have any questions concerning the fire department please contact me. I can be reached at
oakland firedept@bellsouth.net or by phone at 901-508-1254.
